As the exhaust valve is starting to open adjust the intake, as the intake is closing, adjust the exhaust. No need to even look at the TDC marks on the balancer because it doesn't matter.Remove valve covers. For hydraulic, you are right - tighten to 0 clearance as indicated by lifting the rocker up and down at the valve, until movement stops, then go another 1/4 to 1/2 turn. 1/2 turn is recommmnded for low perf and stock rebuilds. Make sure the lock nuts still grip tight, as it should take maybe 5-10 ft lb to make them turn.
