Secondly, Smelter Sword is considered a Strength/Fire weapon. It has dex scaling but it's not worth investing in it. Focus on Str and FTH/INT. Fire increases damage with a combination of FTH/INT up to around a combination of 60. Third: IMO, Smelter Sword is okay. Not my favorite personally since the R2 eats up a lot of durability.
